Is News your business? Do you love Talk Radio? Do you appreciate the sensibilities of Brian Williams, Jon Stewart, Rick Sanchez and Ryan Seacrest? WIOD’s next News Editor will lead a team of professionals in a collaborative environment where urgency and deadlines matter. You must be an aggressive and creative self-starter who Rushes to local, national, and international news. You’ll thrive on breaking news, run for a big story and develop small ones, report live from the street or in-house, write conversationally, and stay on top of social media. You’ll dig for and direct stories about people, sports, music, entertainment, and technology. You must be a team player, write short, tight copy, adlib well, anchor short form newscasts or long form event coverage, interact with talk show hosts, news anchors, and understand news coverage in the digital/social media age. You’ll live for today and adapt with tomorrow to empower, coach, create and grow our multi-media platform with a desire to build a deeper relationship with our audience.
3 to 5 years of broadcast experience.
Excellent grammar and broadcast news writing; organized; excellent on-air delivery; self-starter; able to work emergency shifts when necessary.
Fast thinking, fast typing, computer literate, able to post audio and video, web links and Facebook.

If a major news event or weather/hurricane happens, you’ll be instinctually prepared to lead our team through the thick of it.
Take direction, give direction, contribute and execute.
Solid news judgment and multi-tasking skills are absolutely essential.
Must be a fast learner, self-starter and have a desire to grow your career.
Must be experienced at evolving stories and a calculated risk taker.
Computer skills and experience with digital editing and social media are vital.
Adobe Audition and RCS News experience is preferred.
Major, large or medium market radio news experience.
Bilingual is a plus.
