Just hours after Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernandez proclaimed his city would no longer be following Miami-Dade county's regulation on no dining-in, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez announced that starting Monday businesses may offer the dine-in option at 50% capacity.
The deal is, patrons must wear their mask right up until their water is served. There also can't be more than six (6) people per table. This is great news for business owners who's bottom line was directly effected by the recent COVID-19 safety regulations. Mayor Hernandez touched on it at the press conference earlier:
"I'm watching restaurants here closing day in and day out, I'm watching the pain of these owners, of these employees that depend on these businesses and I cannot continue to support a decision not based on science, not based on any communication whatsoever, a baseless opinion or decision made by the county mayor."
Though Miami-Dade County is the hardest-hit in the state during the pandemic, the decision to take steps towards resuming business "as usual" comes after Mayor Gimenez spoke with medical advisors and members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, according to reports.
