BROWARD COUNTY FAIR RETURNS TO GULFSTREAM PARK AFTER 19 YEARS!
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The Broward County Fairs opens Friday, November 17th at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach after 19 years of moving from City to City with no permanent home for the Fair. This year the Fair offers more than 100 plus Rides, Games, Shows, Attractions and International Fair Foods provided by Hildebrand Rides Inc.
The Broward County Youth Fair, d/b/a Broward County Fair, is a not-for-profit corporation chartered by the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture in 1976. It was chartered under state statute 616. It is afforded all the rights and privileges accorded to charitable as well as agricultural organizations.
First established by members of the Hollywood Jaycees, the annual Fair opened its doors in 1976, at Broward Community College in Davie. After two years, the seven members of the board of directors, voted to move to Hallandale. Through a series of lease agreements, the fair remained at Gulfstream Park until 1996, when it moved to Pompano Park Racetrack, Pompano Beach. Here at Florida’s only harness race track, the Fair continued to deliver its special form of family entertainment.
The Broward County Fair is the principal showcase for Broward County’s vast agri-business industry. Agriculture ranks either first or second, along with tourism, as Broward’s major source of income. Florida is the nation’s eighth leading agricultural state, providing the country with more than 62% of its citrus, 50% of the domestic sugar supply and 25% of its vegetables.
